UNIQUELY CANADIAN
Considering the multicultural context of such a fast growing nation, one has to consider what is the culture of Canada. After extensive research we came to understand that Canada - although housing a numerous array culture’s and ethnicities - is nation that does not truly have a succinct culture.
I then began to think of the things that bind all Canadians - our land and resources. One of the common key stereotypes and images of Canada is that of the maple tree. It is on our flag, and occupies many of our backyards. Maple syrup extraction is a tradition that defines Canadians, which in return inspired this product. The form, and aesthetics of the object is meant to simulate a tree trunk with a elongated branch. The clean, frosted material evokes a sense of the icy winters of Canada.
